Hancock Happenings

Well, it's been a while since I posted anything, so I thought I'd give you the run down of what's been happening here. I'm still pregnant. This week marks week #37.
Last week I went to the doctor and found out three things.
1. Baby is still head down.
2. I was dilated to a 1...but since yesterday I've been having tons of contractions...nothing regular though.
3. Because I had Josh via c-section, and I'm going to attempt VBAC #2, I have to go into labor by myself, and my doctor won't let me go very far past my due date. So we set up a c-section date for May 16 at 2pm. If I haven't gone into labor by then, I'm out of luck. It's all to prevent uterine rupture...which I guess is important.
3 other things which I know
1. We have NO idea what this baby's name is going to be.
2. I love and crave Rolo's and the Round Table Pizza buffet.
3. I can't get enough of Josh and Andrew talking to or kissing the baby through my tummy.
April 9th was a very sad day at our house...we donated the Geo to Goodwill. Darrin stayed up the night before cleaning the car out and reminiscing about old times. I suggested he sleep in the car that night to make one last memory, but he didn't seem to like my idea. He had lots of fun with that car, and it's been missed (by Darrin) ever since we got rid of it.
Darrin's been doing a great job at keeping our lawn looking immaculate. He's the only person I know that aerates his lawn on a regular basis. Here he is giving the new aerator a try!
Josh's newest development is in the nutrition category. Josh liked veggies as a baby, but in the past two and a half years, we've had a hard time getting him to eat any. Well, I'm proud to say in the last week he's tried corn, broccoli, green beans, and carrots. He still doesn't fully appreciate them, but at least he tries now!!Andrew is a "binky free" boy now. He survived the detoxification process and is doing great. Although when the binky went out the window so did the naps, but oh well. Maybe he'll get back into them...or maybe not. We are also getting ready to make another big step in Andrew's life...move him to a bed. We'll let you know this week how that goes=).
Lastly, we are SICK of the rain and cold here. We are ready for spring. The average high in Portland this time of year is 63 degrees. Saturday it snowed. I was NOT happy.

Warmest Day of the Year

Today was the warmest day of the year with a high of 75 degrees! We started out the day by heading to the local tulip festival. It was gorgeous!! As we were waiting in the long line to park our car, Josh learned the valuable lesson of how to pee in cup in the van while traveling. He was quite reluctant at first, but when he realized his only options were peeing in a cup, wearing a diaper, or having an accident, he finally decided to try out the cup! It was a good thing he did...I don't think he would have made it to the restroom. Anyway, we enjoyed the festival and let the kids go on one ride...the cow train. They also enjoyed the pipe slide. We rushed back home only to head to the park for a BBQ with our friends. The kids had tons of fun playing in the sunshine, and it's a good thing we took advantage of the nice weather for next week the forecast says rain everyday. That's Oregon for ya!

Detox in Progress

Well, we are in first couple hours of operation "get rid of the Binky" at our house tonight. It's gone pretty smoothly...he's asleep and not screaming...so that's promising! Although ever since we cut the "B" he's been telling us that the baby broke his "B." I'm trying to reiterate that the baby did NOT brake his "B." I'm afraid he will forever hold a grudge against the baby if he continues to think that is what happened. Anyway, here are some pictures of our used to be Binky boy...and a sad picture of what the "B" looks like now. We'll update you in morning on how the night went=).

Update 11:35pm: Just as I posted the first post, Andrew woke up crying and was NOT happy. I gave him a drink and sang him song. Hopefully he'll be able to go back to sleep!

Update 4/12 8:45pm: Andrew only woke up that one time last night. Thank goodness! He woke up a little bit sad this morning but for the most part hasn't cared too much about his "B." I put him to bed, so we'll see if there's any drama tonight. I'd say for now--so far, so good!

Update 4/13 3:25pm: Well, Andrew had a hard time falling asleep last night, but once he was asleep he slept through the night. Today we tried for an hour and a half to get him to take a nap but to no avail. I'm afraid without the "B" naps will be no more...we'll have to see.

He turned!

UPDATE: I went to the doctor today and it was confirmed....the baby turned head down!! We're really excited!! I'm a little perplexed by the whole thing, because you'd think at this stage in the game I would have felt some big rumbling earthquake when he turn...but I didn't feel anything out of the ordinary. Anyway, the doctor even did an ultrasound to make sure. We're ready to rock and roll now!
