Today it snowed about 3-4 inches.  The boys, especially Luke, had a great time playing in it.

And, of course, we HAD to have hot chocolate when we came in.

Snow and hot chocolate.

A perfect combination.

Christmas 2009

IMG_1842 IMG_1844 IMG_1849 IMG_1853 IMG_1860  IMG_1859 IMG_1867

Ten things to remember about Christmas 2009

1.  Josh made his Christmas list months ago, and on it was a magic set and a snowball gun.  What is a snowball gun??  I don’t even know.

2.  The kids watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas over and over and over.

3.  Luke was a very good present opener.  It was a good thing he didn’t understand what presents were until Christmas morning.  He would have bothered them all month long.

4.  We have a Santa Claus advent calendar that hangs on the wall, and every night in December until Christmas Santa brings candy and puts it in the corresponding pocket.  Sometimes Santa does forget.

5.  On Tuesday we took our letters to Santa and mailed them in a special mailbox headed straight for the North Pole.  The mailbox was in Macy’s department store.

6.  We took the boys to buy presents for each other.  It was nice to see them want to give and not just receive.

7.  Darrin took the boys shopping to get presents for me.  Andrew tried SO hard not to tell me what he got me, but he just couldn’t help it.

8.  We finally made the digital upgrade.  Seeing Darrin admire his new TV: priceless.

9.  Josh did not get a snowball gun.  But he did get a magic set.  One of the ticks is :magically: poking a pen through a dollar.  Josh didn’t quite understand and really did poke a hole in it.  It was hilarious!

10.  The older our kids get, the more fun Christmas is.  I’m sure it will just keep getting better.

Just in case you aren’t on our Christmas card list, here’s what you missed.

Season’s Greetings! We hope this letter finds you all happy and healthy! We have been so blessed this year and know that everything we have comes from a loving Heavenly Father. We are aware and grateful for his constant watch care over us and our loved ones. What a wonderful time of year to reflect on everything we have because of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. In celebration of 2009 here is a little bit of what we’ve been up to this year.

Luke (19 months) is a curious little guy who adds so much to our family. If there is trouble to be found, he will find it. Right now he loves to move the kitchen chairs or step stools around the house, climb on them, and then play in the sink, turn the lights off and on, or get into anything else that looks intriguing. Luke just started nursery about a month ago and is doing great. He is hesitant to go in at first, but warms up and does just fine the rest of the time. Luke is starting to talk and says several words like apple, bubble, hot, banana, Andrew, Elmo, and ho ho ho.

Andrew (4 years) is a loving and caring boy and is always concerned about others. He is a very good big brother and takes great care of Luke. If Luke is crying and sad, Andrew will get him some milk, a snack,

or play with him to make him happy. He’s also a great little

brother and goes along with Josh’s wild and crazy imagination. Andrew started preschool this year and loves it. He’s in a co-op, similar to what Josh was in the past two years, where all the moms take turns teaching. Andrew almost knows all of his letters and loves writing his name on everything.

Josh (5 1/2 years) had several big milestones this year. In September he started Kindergarten at the elementary school very close to our house. He’s learning to read and making lots of new friends. Josh also started soccer in September. He was on a team with 5 boys and 1 girl. It amazed me how much they grew over the season. Josh really liked to play defense and defend the goal and was pretty good at it by the end of season!

Kim—I’ve been staying busy being “the mom.” I love to bake, blog (aka family history), teach preschool, volunteer in Josh’s class, read an occasional book and do something crafty every once in awhile. I’m still the Webelos leader in our ward and enjoy coming up with fun activities for the 10 year old boys.

Darrin—Darrin spends most his day in a 4x6 cubicle at Intel validating their newest processor to come out sometime in 2012. He recently finished working on the processors coming out this year (Core i9, i7, i5, i3) He is still the Elder’s Quorum President at church and plays indoor soccer at least once a week. Darrin loves spending time with “his boys”, whether it’s playing games, rough-housing, or kicking the soccer ball in the backyard. Darrin values the time they spend together. In May, he took them on the Father’s and Son’s campout. The boys had a blast and enjoyed quality time with dad.

Well, there is our family update! Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! We miss you all!

Love, Darrin, Kim, Josh, Andrew, and Luke

Luke is starting to talk!

Luke just learned how to say

I'm actually surprised how long it took.

And I just love listening to his little voice.

Enjoy!

A lesson in Independence.

Today we put up the Christmas lights on the house.

I came in to get something to find Andrew making hot chocolate.IMG_1812IMG_1810IMG_1809

There were several things wrong with the “hot chocolate” situation I found in the kitchen.

1) We don’t normally make hot chocolate with Nesquick.  Apparently Andrew thinks we should.

2) Why is there ice along with powder in the sink?

3) He had a cup of water mixed with Nesquick in the microwave all ready to cook when I walked in.

4)  He has chocolate all over his face which tells me he drank some of his hot chocolate.  Yum.

After the photo session, he got a stern lecture about asking before he makes hot chocolate next time.

Soon enough. Andrew. Soon enough.

Thanksgiving Vacation Part IV

Friday was our last day in Oklahoma before we headed home.

We held our first annual Morris Family 5K.

My time improved by 2 minutes…I was happy.

That night we went to Woolaroc for a hayride and to see the lights.

And who can go to Oklahoma without going to Braum’s??

We can’t!

Thanksgiving Vacation Part III

Thanksgiving Day

We worked up an appetite by doing lots of fun things.

Aunt Kristin helped the boys discover crawdads in the creek behind Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

IMG_1728 IMG_1729 IMG_1731 IMG_1733 As I went out to take pictures I was surprised no one had fallen in the water yet…

I spoke too soon.

Then Josh and Andrew went to the park with some awesome Aunts & Uncles.

Finally about 6:30 we got to eat.

We had to wait for Uncle Ben to get into town.

The food stretched down the table as far as the eye could see.

And Luke entertained us all…

Thanksgiving Vacation Part II

11.24.09

Happy Birthday to me.

In Oklahoma the weather was beautiful, so we were able to spend lots of time outside.

The morning after we got there, Grandpa got out the kites and let the kids fly.

Josh had a blast; Andrew was too scared.

IMG_1694 IMG_1695 IMG_1697 IMG_1703 Darrin and I went out to lunch for my birthday, and then for dinner, we went to Osage State Park for a hot dog roast.

Luke enjoyed chips for dinner.

And all three boys loved the speedy fast slide they had there.

IMG_1705 IMG_1710 IMG_1712 IMG_1718 IMG_1721 When we got home, we put the kids to bed, and then Darrin and I went to see New Moon.

Such a fun birthday!
