16 week OB appointment.

Usually a good one, right?

You feel better.  Already heard the heartbeat once…

you think you’re good to go.

Well, so did I.

The panic starts as the doctor can’t pick up the fast little heartbeat.

She changes dopplers a couple times.  Then pulls in the big machine.

We can see a cute little something.

But hear nothing.

It’s a lot to swallow.

But we know our hearts will heal with time and with the help of our Savior.

Thanks for all the support we’ve received thus far.  We appreciate it all.

As the ordeal ended yesterday, and we were left to deal with our emotions, it’s been cloudy and rainy outside for the first time in months.

The weather knows how I feel.

Swimming Lessons

This year both of the older boys completed two more sessions of swimming lessons.

It was fun to see their confidence and skill level grow.

They both are getting to be pretty good little swimmers!IMG_3107 IMG_3108 IMG_3111 IMG_3113IMG_3105

And Luke was such a good little sport just to watch.

He would usually just sit and eat or color while the boys were swimming.

Maybe next year he’ll get to take some of his own lessons!

Kahneeta—camping #4

camping…I’m not sure you can really call it that…it’s a tad more glorious than tent camping…but still camping to me.

On August 20-22 we went to Kahneeta with Darrin’s two brothers and their families that live in Oregon.

It took us forever to get there…traffic and the detour because of the wildfire, put us there about 7pm.

We grilled chicken for dinner and had smores for dessert.IMG_3151 IMG_3155 IMG_3156Josh LOVES smores and can eat about 5 of them if we let him…usually we don’t.

For breakfast Darrin made French toast, bacon and eggs.

YUM!IMG_3163

The kids enjoyed playing with their cousins.

Our kids LOVE their cousins. IMG_3164 IMG_3165 IMG_3166

We took the kids miniature golfing for the first time.

They really got into it!

IMG_3170 IMG_3171 IMG_3173

And we had to swim a couple times while we were there.

The hot springs were nice and warm despite the cooler temperatures outside.

The kids didn’t seem to mind the cold.

I was freezing though!

Picture of our tee-pee: #6

For dinner Saturday night we made tin foil dinners.

Then Sunday we woke up pretty early so Darrin could make it to Elders Quorum.

The trip was great fun…definitely something we should do again next year.

Camping Trip #3

The night of August 13th was our ward campout.

Darrin took the boys by himself because on the 8th my Grandma Morris passed away, and I headed to Utah for the funeral.

From the sound of it, Darrin didn’t sleep well and the weather was hot, but kudos to him for going without me!

IMG_3137 IMG_3138 IMG_3144

As for the funeral, it was beautiful.

It always amazes me the things you learn about a person you’ve known your whole life after they die.

My grandmother was a poised person that had amazing inner strength.

There’s a lot I can learn from her!

Soccer

Josh started soccer the middle of August.

Darrin is his coach this year, and I think they are both having lots of fun together.IMG_3114  IMG_3116 His games start the first of September, and I think he’s really excited to score some goals!

Darrin let Josh pick the name of the team…

Go Blue Goo!

Days of summer

Here are some pictures from this summer that I haven’t blogged about yet.

The kids loved the new fountain park near our house.

Luke wasn’t quite brave enough to play in the actual fountains, but he loved splashing in the puddles.IMG_3039 IMG_3041 July 23, 2010

Family movie nights were always a favorite.

We watched classics like Swiss Family Robinson and Herbie Goes Bananas.

IMG_3046July 24, 2010

The kids went swimming a couple times at Marissa and Jenn’s pools and loved every minute of it.

IMG_3052 IMG_3053 July 27, 2010

Josh lost his one front tooth…

IMG_3054 July 30, 2010

and then a week later lost the other one.

IMG_3149

The kids swam in the backyard only once this year.

Our summer was the coldest one Portland’s seen in 17 years.

So we didn’t get much chance to swim.

Camping Trip #2

The weekend of July 16-17 we went camping at Cape Look Out which is right on the coast.

We tried out tin foil dinners for dinner, and they turned out super yummy.

IMG_3006 IMG_3007 IMG_3009IMG_3015 IMG_3016

After hot chocolate and breakfast, we went over to the beach to play in the sand.IMG_3018  IMG_3021 IMG_3024 IMG_3027 IMG_3028

We stopped at the cheese factory on the way home and got ice cream.

Yum.

We got home and started putting all the camping stuff away.  The door into the house from the garage often gets left open, so we can go in and out easily.

After awhile I sat down to take a rest in the garage, and low and behold, here comes a bird that flies directly in the house.

The poor bird flew straight up to the window way above our front door.  He was trying desperately to get out.  He just kept flying into the window over and over.

Darrin went in the garage and got his big painting stick and tried to knock him out of the window.  Eventually it worked and the bird flew down and right out the garage door where he came in.

It was pretty exciting there for a while.

Now when the kids leave the door open, I can tell them to shut it or else the birds will fly in.

Tonight I’m grateful for a husband that is more concerned with spending time with his boys and making memories

rather than the mess it will make.

Josh, Andrew, and Luke--

I hope you know how lucky you are.
