Halloween Festivities

A couple weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch.

Darrin’s parents were in town at the time, so we went with family.

Friday I took the kids trick or treating at a local shopping mall.

We had Woody, Superman, and a Ninja Turtle.

Then Friday night was Bingo Night at the school.IMG_3477

Saturday we carved pumpkins.

I swear it took us Darrin 3 hours to carve all the pumpkins.

Saturday night was our ward Halloween party equipped with chili, cornbread, a costume parade, and games.

It was a lot of fun!

That brings us to now.

Trick or treating is in full swing.

If you come to our house you will be given candy by these two little men.

We chose as a family not to trick or treat on Sunday.  The kids are having so much fun passing out candy I think we might never trick or treat again :)

Overall it’s been a great Halloween!

Soccer

Yesterday was Josh’s last soccer game!

I can’t believe how much they all grew this past season.

It was fun to see them start to pass the ball to each other, and

I was surprised at how physical they were getting with each other by the end of the season.

It will be fun to see what next year brings!

Primary Program 2010

Last Sunday was our ward’s primary program.

These two memorized their parts and said them very well.IMG_3474

Josh said, “I am thankful for the gospel because it teaches me that Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers.”

Andrew finished the sentence: My family follows the prophet by… And Andrew said, “doing chores together.”

Keep up the good work boys!

Trip to Oklahoma Oct 8-15

The kids had 4 days off of school during the week of Oct 8-15, so I got brave and decided to fly to Oklahoma with the kids and visit my parents.

Flying with the kids by myself actually wasn’t too bad.  It could have been bad.  easily.  But I was blessed, and they were very well behaved.

It also helped that I had every form of technology to entertain them with.

2 Nintendo DS, portable DVD player, MP3 players

don’t judge.  You do what you gotta do :)

Because there were 4 ticketed passengers and only 3 seats in a row, Josh had to sit across the aisle.

He was kinda nervous, but I think it helped him to behave.

We made it to Oklahoma late Friday night.  Uncle Ben and Aunt Michelle and cousin Ben came over from Norman to spend the weekend with us.

So all day Saturday we played with them.

We also played outside and at the park.

The weather was much warmer there than in Oregon, so we took advantage of that!

Monday we went shopping and to the park (no pics).

Tuesday we took the kids to the Independence KS zoo and then to Copan Lake.

The kids LOVED the lake and were really sad we didn’t bring their swimming suits.

I thought it was a little cold to swim.  They didn’t, of course.

Wednesday we went to Braum’s for ice cream and then to the pumpkin patch.

IMG_3409 IMG_3411 IMG_3412 IMG_3421 IMG_3422

Thursday we went to Osage Hills State Park for a campfire.

We made tin foil dinners and smores.

Yum!

It was the perfect end to a great trip!

The airplane ride home took longer.  We went through Phoenix, so the plane rides took longer and our layover was longer.  The kids were still pretty good though.

We were SOOOOO glad to get to the airport and see our daddy!!  We sure missed him.

Thanks grandma and grandpa for a great trip!

Remembering

Part I

A gal that used to be in our ward is AWESOME at making jewelry.

I love all the stuff she makes.

A week or so before we had our baby boy, she had a giveaway on facebook.

And guess who won?

I did!

And I never win anything.

I won a necklace with a pearl, a gemstone of my choice, and a little silver leaf with a letter on it.

I randomly picked a ruby and the letter “k” for Kimberly, of course.

The very day we had our baby she notified me on facebook that the necklace was ready, and she would stick it in the mail.

Part II

With both of my miscarriages, I’ve had the strong desire to pick something to help me remember the baby and the experience.  You know…kinda like the “plant a tree” concept.

Last time it was tulips.  Tulips will forever remind me of my first miscarriage.

This time it took a little longer to pick something.

Part III

As I proudly wore my new necklace, I really wanted it to be “the thing.”

I just couldn’t figure out how it fully correlated.

In the following weeks, I couldn’t get it out of my head.

I finally decided to look up birthstones and which gems go with each month.

I got chills when I found out the pearl went with June and the ruby-July.

Then I knew why it was the “thing” I was going to pick.

June and July were the two full months that our baby was alive.

I found out I was pregnant in May.  And had the baby August 30th.

A coincidence?

I don’t think so.

Mario Party 5

For Andrew’s b-day party we went with a

Mario Party 5

theme.

We decorated the house like a video game.IMG_3251

IMG_3243

IMG_3266

We started the party by eating Mario pizza and Luigi punch.

IMG_3269

Darrin made a game board with different spaces for mini-games and ways to collect coins.

The object of the game was to get as many coins as you could, so you could buy prizes at the end of the party. IMG_3272

Some of the mini-games were

the Yoshi Egg Run, Coin Hunt,  Pipe Toss, and the Turtle Shell Game.IMG_3273 IMG_3285

We had a “big man” cake and, of course, presents.

IMG_3262 IMG_3288 IMG_3290 IMG_3293

It was very funny to watch the kids spend their coins at the end of the party.

They were more inclined to buy lots of little prizes rather than a bigger prize for more money.

I thought they would all fight over the big prizes!

The party was very fun, and I think everyone had a great time!!
