Easter Weekend.

Goodness.

My computer was being dumb…

It stopped now.

And finally let me post about last weekend.

Saturday I ran a 5K.

The coarse was very hilly, but I still managed to get my best time ever.

32:01.  90th overall.

It was lots of fun.  They even provided us with a BBQ after the race where I tried my first veggie burger.

I’m not sure I’m a fan.

lol.  I took a picture of myself running.  Is that nerdy?

Saturday while I was racing, Darrin took the kids to an Easter egg hunt.  I instructed him to take pics, but he didn’t.

So we’ll all have to imagine that event in our heads.

Sunday at church we had beautiful Easter services.

I loved the choir’s song: He is Risen.

It’s one of my favs.

Sunday after church we dyed eggs and had an egg hunt at home.

It was a pretty low key Easter, but that’s okay.

We focused more on what Easter’s really about.

What have we been up to, you ask?

Well Darrin’s parents were here this past weekend!

His dad came to ordain him a high priest.  It was a really special experience.

We also had fun playing games, talking, eating, talking and eating.

Sadly this is the only pic I took.

It shows a glimpse of Luke’s poor face which got all scraped up when he face planted in the bark dust.

We are thankful to have such involved grandparents and will miss them when they go on their mission!GHancock

Called to Serve

Today our ward got a new bishopric, and Darrin was called to be the 2nd counselor.  Are we old enough for this?

We are excited for this experience and humbled at the responsibility.

I only pray that I can support him 120%.

Here’s to sitting in sacrament meeting by myself!

And P.S. Darrin and the boys already made up secret signals that Darrin can give from the stand.  I thought that was cute :)

Josh’s B-day party

Last Saturday in between conference sessions, we had Josh’s b-day party.

We had a great time playing bingo, Max bowling, balloon blast, making mini pizzas and having cake.

Max bowling involved using our remote control car to knock down bowling pins.

Balloon blast was an intense game were we blew up tons of balloons before hand and put pieces of paper inside the balloons with prizes on them.

In order for the kids to get a prize they had to start popping balloons until they found one.

The seven year old boys really liked the game and are now not afraid to pop balloons.

The younger guests HATED the loud noise and didn’t want to pop the balloons.

All I can say is:

It was Darrin’s idea.

Overall it was a great party, and Josh had tons of fun!IMG_3871IMG_3873

Randomness

This week.

It was a busy one.

A Mindy Gledhill concert was a highlight.

I’ve had her newest album for awhile now, and it was great to hear her sing live and tell the stories behind her songs.

After DQ was a necessity.

Our zoo pass expired on Thursday, so I took the kids one last time (for awhile) on Wednesday.

There was no one there and the weather wasn’t too bad, despite what it looks like from what Josh is wearing.  He’s always cold.

Tangled came out on DVD this week.

I love. that. movie.

I wanted the 4 disc pack to get the digital copy.  Target had them in the ad for $24.99, but of course the Target closest to us didn’t have any more.  So I had to drive all over town trying to find one!  I finally did!

Lately I’ve been trying to become more involved in our schools PTA.  I really feel like it is a good place to make a difference.  I volunteered to over see our Box Top drive.  Hopefully I didn’t get too in over my headSmile.  If you have any and want to donate them, feel free to mail them to me!

We just got done watching General Conference.

It’s always a great reminder of the things I need to work on, as well as strengthens my testimony of our merciful Heavenly Father who is ever mindful of us.

This past week marks 2 years since my first miscarriage.

Will those dates ever be erased from my memory?

Actually, it’s not the dates that I remember.  It’s the time of year:  the flowers coming out of the ground, warmer temps, conference weekend.

This event is most significant, because it’s when it all started.  The last two years have been trying ones.  Growing ones.

But ones of strength.  For I know we haven’t been left alone.

And today I’m grateful for the inspiration that comes in the quiet.

Hope your week was a good one…and stay tuned for an update on how the b-day party went!
