10th Anniversary/Mother’s day

On May 11th this crazy couple celebrated their 10th anniversary!

The kids and I decorated and filled Darrin’s car with balloons while he was at work.

I thought he’d drive straight to the car wash after work but no.  He let me get in on the embarrassment, and we drove the car like this on our date.  It was awesome.

After work Darrin brought me the most beautiful bouquet of long stem roses.  Our house smelled like a flower shop for weeks!  The kids kept asking what that stinky smell was!

For our date we went golfing.  I realized I probably wasn’t able to golf b/c of my big belly, but I was content to drive him around the golf course instead :)

We ate dinner at the Outback Steakhouse and talked about everything we’d be through in the past ten years.  And then about where we’d be in the next 10.  Yikes.  We will have a 18 year old son who will be graduating from HS.  WHOA!

Oh yeah.  And a couple weeks prior Darrin bought me an anniversary band for my wedding ring…which I had to take off (see previous post).  But I love it and can’t wait to wear it again!

2 days later was mother’s day.  I was pampered with love and cards from the kids!  I love reading the things they write!

I love being a mom.  My deepest joys in life come from my family.  It ‘s not always easy; I can attest to that.  At least one day this week, I put the kids to bed and just cried.  I had not been a nice person or a good mom.  I was discouraged and prayed for help to do better.  Contrast that with yesterday, sitting in the sun watching the kids play soccer with Darrin, feeling so blessed.  I guess pregnancy is making kind of manic right now…so many ups and downs!

Pregnancy Journal (35 weeks)

Well, I’m half way through my 35th week!  My due date is one month from today.  CRAZY!

I’m feeling pretty good and trying really hard not to complain about anything!  I’m just so happy and grateful to be pregnant and that everything still is going well.

I went to the doctor on Monday.  She checked me, and I was a fingertip dilated.  Anyone want to go for a walk?  Looks like I need to go on a few (ahem, a lot) more.  I really didn’t expect to be much more dilated than that at 35 weeks, but I’d really like to get this show on the road at least by 39 weeks.  I have an agenda, and I’m hoping this baby does too!

I was measuring 34 and have gained 28 (yikes) pounds.  I had another blood draw and my platelet count went up to the normal range!  Yay!

I’m, of course, attempting VBAC #3 which means I have to go into labor on my own…no inductions here.  I have until June 27th at 7:30am to go into labor on my own or the clock runs out, and I’m stuck with a c-section.  I’m hoping and praying that’s not the case.

Something different about this pregnancy then the others is the amount of swelling in my hands and feet.  My feet look like monster feet to me!  So huge!  My hands are also swollen which is causing pregnancy induced carpal tunnel.  My hands are asleep all. night. long.  They get more sleep than I do these days!  I ordered some wrist braces today, so I’m hoping that will help.  But because of the poor circulation in my hands, they are really swollen when I wake up.  On Saturday I sadly took off my wedding rings…which is really sad cause for our anniversary we just bought a new band that I love—more on that later!  But I figure it’s better to take them off rather then have to have them cut off or loose a finger.  lol.  So the tan line on my ring finger is my “pretend” ring for now.

That’s about all I can think of right now…I’ll definitely post a picture soon.

Luke’s 4th B-day

Today is Luke’s birthday!  He’s been anticipating this day for weeks now!

He really, really wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate, so we took the fam on Monday.

This morning he woke up bright and early to open his presents before his brothers left for school.

He got a CARS 2 airplane, a tent, the Avengers action figures, and the dentist play dough set.  Grandma Morris sent the original Perplexus ball.  Grandma and Grandpa Hancock called from England, but Luke refused to talk to them!  Maybe next year he’ll be less shy :)

He spent all morning playing with his new toys, and then chose to eat at Panda Express for lunch.  We came home from our afternoon errands, and ate hot dogs for dinner and cake for dessert.  Don’t ask what it’s supposed to be cause it didn’t quite turn out like I’d imagined…that seems to always happen to me!!

Happy Birthday Luke!!
