Primary Program and a sleepy baby

Sunday was our ward’s primary program.

Luke’s part was “I will share my toys.”

Andrew said, “So we were born into a family.  It may be big or small.”  His line was part of a poem that his class recited.

And Josh sang An Angel Came to Joseph Smith with his class.

During third hour, Darrin came and got Ella from me so I could focus on teaching my lesson.  After church I went to find them, and she was asleep.  She NEVER does this!  She couldn’t handle going two days in a row without a nap.  They’re both so cute if I do say so myself.

My lesson went great.  Have a said how much I love teaching primary?  It’s the best.  We played bingo and it was a huge hit.

window washing and 5 punches

Saturday Josh had a soccer game.

They won.  Josh had a sweet, awesome goal.

IMG_3970

We usually look like a three-ring circus trying to carry all of our stuff to the soccer field.  Good thing for strollers.  Cue Josh’s circus music.  lol.

We cleaned the church.  The kids loved it.  They were great at washing windows, vacuuming, and dusting.  Even Ella got in on some cleaning.

The beautiful drive on the way to Andrew’s soccer game.

Andrew’s team played a great game as well.

Andrew and his 2 buddies from his team: Jake and Nolan.  Their birthdays are all pretty close together and they are all playing up a grade in soccer.

I worked on my primary lesson while Ella took a bath.  She did not take nap in the only 1 1/2 that we had at home.  So she had to make it all day without one.  The bath helped her make it to bedtime.  She was one tired cookie.

IMG_3980

After Ella was in bed, Darrin and I went out.  We had planned to go to corn maze, but after all the running around earlier in the day, we were pretty tired, so we debated.  But we decided to go for it anyway…and I think we made the right decision.  It was so fun!!  I’d never done a corn maze so it was all new to me.

IMG_3981IMG_3984

There were 5 check points scattered throughout the maze.  They each had a map and a different kind of hole punch to punch our tickets.  We got all 5 punches and won a small bag of popcorn.  yay.  It took us about 1 1/2 hours to do the whole thing.  We both had a lot of fun. We often get in the date rut of just going out to eat, so it was refreshing to mix it up!  We did go to BJs after for dinner.  yum!

Black Ninjas end on a win.

Friday I spent most of the day cleaning to prepare for our BYU game watching party later that night.  I also made a yummy banana cake with cream cheese frosting.  It wasn’t quite as good  as Jenae’s, but close!

This is a picture of the yard maintenance workers blowing the leaves on the way to the bus stop.  It’s fun to see them blow them into huge piles all over the neighborhood.  Too bad my computer is being stupid and it won’t let me make the picture bigger.

Luke found the Ipod later in the day and wanted to play it.  Unfortunately this is what the screen said.  Oh snap.  Guess we can’t play it for another 40 some odd years.  lol.  Don’t worry.  Darrin fixed it.IMG_3954

All afternoon Ella kept crawling up on the shelve under the hall table to sit by the Halloween cat.  It kinda cracked me up.

IMG_3958

In the evening Luke had his last soccer game.  The boys played great and won.  They were glad to have a victory to end the season!  Josh and Andrew had fun throwing the football back and forth with each other.

The Black Ninjas.  What a fun little team!

P1010684

We then headed to a local burger joint to have dinner and hand out trophies.  Our kids ate chicken nuggets and fries and coach bought them each an ice cream cone.

We rushed home to watch the BYU game with friends.  The game was a good one against Boise State.  After we played a couple games: Seven Wonders (I won)  and the bean game (I think Dallin won).

Overall a great day.

Just a few housekeeping notes…

I’m trying to catch up with my posts.  Several things are not in my favor.  First my desktop is in thousands of pieces on my kitchen table.  It’s being rebuilt with fast chip, etc…And these upgrades never go as smooth as someone says/thinks they do.  And I’m not a fan of blogging on my laptop.  Second is we have tons of family coming into town this week because of Andrew’s baptism on Saturday.  Who wants to blog with fam in town?  So we’ll see how it goes.  I will do my best :)

9 minutes 11 seconds

On my run this morning Jenae and I decided to see how fast we could run one mile.  I was surprised we could do it in 9:11.  We made a goal to get it under 9.  Granted after that one mile we had to walk for awhile to recover.  I about died I’m pretty sure.

Morning snuggles with mom.

IMG_3905

We spent the morning cleaning/organizing the boy’s room.  Ella loves to snoop around and loves especially to get on Josh’s bed and turn his reading light on and off.

IMG_3907IMG_3908

We had to run an errand around lunch time, so we met daddy for lunch.  We went to Potbelly’s.  Yum.  My fav.  Ella loved her grilled cheese and banana smoothie.  She was very good about taking turns with the smoothie.  I would ask her if it was mommy’s turn, and she would shake her head yes and hand it to me.

IMG_3911IMG_3914

After we got home, we headed back upstairs to rotate the toys.  We’ve had the same ones out for several months, so Luke was super excited.IMG_3924

These are the ones we put away.

IMG_3925

And this is what we got out.

IMG_3926

After playing at the park with friends, we went to Luke’s soccer game.  He had some super awesome goals!  Way to go dude!

IMG_3929IMG_3932

I took the boys to Math/Science night at the school while Darrin and Ella stayed home and made dinner.  OMSI exhibits were set up in the gym.  The kids thought those were the best.  They were sad that we couldn’t have spent more time there.

IMG_3933IMG_3935

It was a whirlwind of dinner, homework, baths and bed.  Now the house is quite.  Even Darrin’s asleep.  lol.

And life is good.

Glad tomorrow is Friday!  We’ve got a great weekend planned!

XOXOXOXO

PS.  I’ve been doing this daily blog thing for about 10 days now.  It’s really not as bad as I thought it would be.  I can’t guarantee I’ll keep it up forever, but it is nice to have the small daily details recorded at least as long as I can keep it up :)

Ella-16 months

I was just reading the 14 month post about Ella and boy has she changed a lot since then.

For starters she can say several words: bye-bye, mama, dada, bubble, pop (meaning pop the bubble), ball, hi, hello, apple, dog, water, drink, night-night, no, yeah, fish, sock, boo, shoes, choo-choo, yuck, blankie, binky and cookie.

I love it when they start to say things with their cute little voices.  It’s just so sweet.P1010625_edited

Ella is starting to be much more comfortable with other people.  She goes to friend’s houses and plays while I volunteer or have appointments, and she’s just fine.  We also left her with a baby-sitter awake, and she did fine with her too.  So glad to get past the stage where they need you so much.  It definitely gives me a lot more freedom and a lot less worry.

P1010640

Ella’s doing great in her physical therapy.  She likes it soooo much more then she used to.  She just crawls around and plays and is so much more open to the games that they want her to play.  I’m crossing my fingers she’ll be walking by Christmas, but I’m not sure how realistic that is.  I’m ready to have a toddler that waddles around the house.  She’s an expert at stairs and goes up and down by herself.  She can also walk behind a push toy now.  She loves to play at the park and go down the slide and swing with mom.

P1010643_edited

Ella is still a great eater who eats better than some of my boys.  She’s now very aware what we’re eating and if other people are eating a treat, she’s wants what they are having.  She’s great at using a spoon and fork.

Ella does great at folding her arms during the prayer.  I’ve noticed that whenever she’s sitting in her highchair waiting for her food, she’ll fold her arms.  It’s like she’s saying to us, “Hurry up!  Let’s pray-I’m hungry!”

P1010649

Ella loves music especially the songs Radioactive and Roar.  She likes to sing along to either one.  She also loves primary songs.  She loves her “show” Baby Einstein.  She won’t really watch much else on the TV.  She loves to sit at the computer desk and pound on the keyboard and use the mouse.  The minute anyone sits down at the desk, she’s right there wanting to climb up and help them.  And for the reason I don’t use the computer much while she's awake.

The other day I got out the Little People toys, and she is loving playing with them.  She puts the people in and pushes their cars and buses all over the house.  I think she’s ready for some big girl toys.  I can’t wait for Christmas :)

P1010664_edited

Ella wears size 4 diapers and is in 24 month clothes for the most part.  We go the dr. in a couple weeks, so we’ll see how much she weighs then.  She has tiny feet though.  I have a hard time finding size 4 in most big girl shoes. They all usually start at size 5.

Ella is a super friendly girl with a cute personality.  I just want to bottle her up at this age and keep her forever.

I just love her.

Tip of the Day: Don’t wash ink pens.

What? Don’t you eat with a skeleton in your cereal bowl?? lol.

IMG_3893

This morning I worked at the school book fair.  It was a blast.  I love being at the school.  Thanks D for watching my kids :)

IMG_3895

I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get motivated to get some work done around here.  Luke played at Ethan’s and Ella was asleep, but I just could not focus on any one task to save my life.   I drove myself crazy.  I finally did pull it together later tonight and at least got the downstairs cleaned up.

IMG_3896

I tried making dinner before piano lessons, but the recipe called for bacon and the bacon we had in the fridge had a ‘use by’ date of Sept 17.   The package was unopened, and I had decided to use it, but after cooking it, I changed my mind and threw it away.  It wasn’t worth getting the whole family sick over.  So during piano, we ran to the store and bought new bacon.  And we ended up eating dinner after pack meeting.

Andrew kicked the ball into the garage and it wedged perfectly in the bike like this.  He thought he was awesome.

IMG_3897

This is what Darrin’s white shirt looked like after it got washed and dried with an ink pen in the pocket.  Luckily this shirt took the brunt of the damage and it hardly got on any other clothes.  And hopefully I can fix them with a little bleach?  This shirt, on the other hand, is a goner.  I’m actually surprised this is the first time this has happened. lol.

IMG_3894

Pack meeting tonight was short and sweet.  Just the way I like them.  Andrew received three belt loops.  He was excited.

IMG_3899

After dinner I started to put the kids to bed and Darrin came home from his soccer game.  The kids hadn’t seen him all day and basked in his attention for as long as I let them.

IMG_3902

Darrin is now obsessed with this show.  He watches it all the time and laughs the whole time.  He’s now calling me Miss Kay, making random duck sounds, and talking more redneck then before.  All are side effects of watching this show.  But whatever makes him happy.

IMG_3903

Goodnight.
