The rest of August

August 5—We went with the Smiths to Sauvie Island for the first time ever.

It was so fun!!!  The kids loved watching the boats go by and playing in the sand and water.  They asked why we go to the ocean when we could just play in the Columbia River.  The water isn’t as cold, and it’s a lot calmer.  We’ll definitely be back there!

August 6—Jake came over to play with Andrew.  We filled up the pool, and they had a blast swimming in the backyard.

August 7—Jayme came to visit!  We hung out at our house all night because Darrin was gone to bishopric night at girl’s camp.  It was just like old times.  Miss seeing both of these girls often.

August 8—Ella and Luke had well check appointments.  Everyone is healthy!  Ella only weighs 23 pounds.  She is the lightest and shortest kid we’ve ever had.  Both measurements were under the 50% percentile.

Silly little girl.

Our new house only has curtains on the windows, so our first major upgrade will be blinds.  We know we want cellular blinds, but it’s been such a challenge figuring out what color to do.

August 10—We played games with Chris and Jayme.  We munched on fancy cheese and crackers and other junk food while we played.  It was awesome.  Wished they still lived close!

August 11-13—Cousins Jason and Jenna stayed with us for a couple days while Chad and Julie went to Kelsey’s wedding.  The kids swam in the backyard, IMG_7048

and then I took them to a pizza/play place.  The Phillips and Moss’ were there too, so it was a great party.

IMG_7054 IMG_7055

Taking a rest to play cards with Jason’s arcade prize.  Can’t believe how old these kids are.

IMG_7056

We got free ice cream because the temp was over 90 that day.

The kids had a blast playing which surprised me…I thought they’d be too old for that place by now.  We got there about 5:30, and I had to drag them out at 9pm when they closed.  I think they would have stayed all night had they been open!

IMG_7058

Ella loves Jenna!  And she was a huge help to have around.  I loved it!

IMG_7059

The last night I let them all sleep in the playroom in sleeping bags.  It was a real slumber party!

August 11-22—All three of the boys took swimming lessons.  I couldn’t get them all at the same time, so we were there from 10:30-12 everyday.  It was torturous.

Ella found an ant one day outside of the aquatic center.  She held it tight in her hand and played with it for a long time while the boys were swimming.

Ella had to wear goggles too.

For some strange reason I never got any pictures of Josh swimming.

All the kids did great, and they all passed their levels!

IMG_7202

Ella had to do a thumbs-up picture just like Luke…apparently we need to practice how to do it.  lol.

IMG_7204

August 18—Darrin got a pass to go to the Adidas employee store through his work.  So we took the kids one night to buy school shoes.  Ella had to try them on like everyone else even though they were way too big!IMG_7153

IMG_7154

And can I just say how much I love having a bigger yard for my kids to mow??  Josh does a great job!

IMG_7182

Well that’s our summer in a nutshell.

My little bro got married this week, and I’m solo at the wedding!  Stay tuned to find out how it went and whether Darrin survived or not :)  And a huge shout out to all the friends that helped with our kids this week while Darrin worked.

And yay!  schools starts on Tues!!  Anyone else excited?????

The rest of July

July 14—When we got home from vacation our blueberry bushes were overflowing with ripe blueberries.  It’s so fun to have those in the backyard!  They were super yummy in muffins.

July 16th—Her brothers got to her.  Poor girl.  I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or be mad at the boys.  I couldn’t help but laugh.

IMG_6818

July 17—We’ve made and collected WAY too many loom bracelets over the last couple months.  And this isn’t all of them!

July 18-19—Ward Camp Out at Cape Lookout

Because we’d just moved in and got home from vacation, we opted to go the untraditional route and forgo cooking dinner on a fire.  Instead we stopped at the cheese factory for dinner!  Yummy grilled cheese!

IMG_6837 IMG_6839

We got to the campground (after a fellow camper left the parking brake off when she got out of the car and her car ran into our van as a result.  Ugh.), set up camp, and then headed to the beach to play and have a bonfire with the ward.

IMG_6844 IMG_6845 IMG_6846 IMG_6849

Then we made our own campfire and had smores.

IMG_6854

The next morning, after a yummy breakfast, we packed up camp and went back to the beach to play.  We LOVE this beach.  It’s usually always warm and not windy.  We stayed for a long time and then made some quick PB and J’s before heading home!

July 21-25—Cub Camp for Josh and Andrew

First day all ready to go!  They were supposed to take a mustache to camp and this is the best we could come up with short notice.

IMG_6860

Their group was the Jackalopes, and Josh and Andrew were buddies.

It was a great week and the boys had lots of fun.  One day there was thunder and lightening, so we had to evacuate camp in a hurry.  It was nice to be able to have the rest of the day off!  The boys get so tired by the end of the week.
