A nutshell of January

1/6—I joined a gym.  They just opened a new one by our house so I joined to help with my Get Healthy in 2015 goal.  I love it and love that it’s way more reasonably priced than the other one I used to go to.  It did bring back memories of working out at the gym with friends and what good time those were.  It made me miss those days.  Guess I’ll settle going by myself.

1/7—A few friends met at Burgerville for lunch.  The little kids had fun sitting at the little tables, eating and coloring together.

The weather was “warm” (read 59*) and Laurie let the boys wash the car and play in the water.  They had a blast!

1/9--I love, love, love these bran muffins and made a ton to put in my freezer to eat on rushed mornings.  My kids don’t really like them, but all the better!

IMG_8922

1/10—We had a baby shower for Laurie.  She’s such a great neighbor and friend, so it was nice to be able to pamper her and her new baby!

1/11—We got these Zoobs for Christmas 2013 and no one has really played with them.  They finally got creative and made weapons with them.  The boys taught Ella well by teaching her to put the weapons half way in her pants.  lol.

IMG_8936IMG_89351/13—Preschool was at our house today!  It’s so fun having a girl only group.  It’s so different than what I’m used to!  During playtime they all got dressed up.  They took it very seriously.  It was so funny to watch.

1/19—The kids were out of school, so I decided to take them on a hike to fulfill one of Josh’s Arrow of Light requirements.  It was not a short hike, so I brought the jogging stroller in case Ella got tired of walking.  She maybe rode in it for 2.4 minutes.  It was awesome to push an empty stroller around for 3 miles.  lol.  Guess my baby is getting big.  We had so much fun walking in nature and looking at God’s creations.  I have a feeling we’ll do a lot more hiking when the weather warms up.

1/21—The school had another restaurant night.  We had to go early (like 4:30pm) because of cub scouts.  Darrin was still at work, so we had to go without him.  These two made silly faces while we waited for our food to come.

1/22—Laurie had her baby!  I got to go to the hospital to see him.  He is such a cutie!  And how fun to hold a super new newborn!

1/24—Ella 2 years and 7 months.  I’m pretty sure she’s not allowed to turn 3.  She turning into quite an independent girl.  Every morning she wakes up and promptly makes her bed.  She loves to get dressed by herself and pick out her clothes.  She can now open the fridge and help herself to whatever she wants to eat.  She loves playing with friends and asks everyday if she’s going to playwith Brynne, Katie, or Ella P.  When asked what her name is she says Ella Parker (her friend’s name).

IMG_9015

She likes to do whatever the boys are doing even though sometimes they don’t want her around.  She is fascinated with babies.  We’ve had a few stay at our house for awhile this past month, and she’s always right there watching and helping.  She just started liking the movie Tangled and thinks her hair is as long as Rapunzel.

IMG_9017

She loves nursery and singing.  She still hates the carwash.  She likes talking on the phone and shopping.  Whenever we are at the store she says things like, “Mom, let’s buy a new dress.”  And how can I resist??!  She is super fun to shop with and for.  It’s kinda dangerous!  I love my Ella girl!

1/27—Basketball season is in full swing for Josh.  It’s been a great season!  We’ve played 3 games-lost 2 and won 1.  Josh has had some great shots, and I think made 11 points in one game.  This particular team was super tall.  We only lost to them by 1 point so we were proud of that!

1/28—My daily walk with Ella!  I have to get in all the steps I can throughout the day.

My big girl!

1/29—There was no school because of the end of the quarter.  The boys (J and A) and I got to go on a field trip to the court house for cub scouts.  We got to sit in on some trials and talk to a couple judges.  The kids thought it was boring, but I found it very fascinating!!  At the end, the officer handcuffed who ever wanted to be.  Andrew thought that was pretty cool!  (Hopefully never to be done again lol)

1/30—Friday afternoon I took the kids to the zoo.  It was fun and so easy to have older kids.  I really like this phase of life!  The zoo used to equal pushing around a double stroller full of kids and constant counting to make sure no one was getting lost.  It was physically and mentally exhausting! It’s not like that anymore, and I actually might like the zoo. lol.

1/31—Holy cow!  Both cars in the garage.  It only took 7 months!  Pretty good if you ask me.  Now we’ll see how long it lasts.

Christmas Break

12/26—Chad and Darrin got together to play Eclipse.  They always have a great time playing games.  This particular game is not wife approved so we weren’t allowed didn’t want to play.  If my memory proves me correct, Darrin won this game for the first time ever :)  He was ecstatic!

12/27--Totally LOVING the fitbit I got for Christmas!!

IMG_8806

12/28--Andrew’s Christmas card to me:

Dear Mom, I don’t like all the jobs you give us, and I like the time you let us play video games.  Love, Andrew

IMG_8807

12/29--Luke went through a fun phase where he wrote me love notes all the time.  I did not complain one bit!

IMG_8809

12/30—Piggy back rides from brothers are the best!

IMG_8818

12/31—New Year’s Eve!  We hosted the big party at our house this year.  We tried a new tradition of decorating the tree with new year’s decor after all the Christmas stuff had been taken down.  Inside the balloons was money: bills and coins.  The kids popped them at midnight.  Josh was the jackpot winner and popped the balloon with a $5 bill.  I didn’t get any pics cause the moment was just that exciting!

IMG_8820

Instead of the usual junk food snacks that we normally have, we made fajitas for dinner.  And we of course had some treats for dessert!  Luke took advantage of that :)

IMG_8822

We played lots of rounds of our new favorite game: Camel Up.

IMG_8824

Then we prepped for our first annual glow stick dance party!

IMG_8826 IMG_8831 IMG_8835

It was a.w.e.s.o.m.e!!  The kids had a blast!!

Then we played a few rounds of Telestrations.  It made for lots of laughs, especially when dad’s secret word was fart.  I thought the kids were getting out of hand so I censored the word when the notebook got to me.  And then it turned out to be what the word really was.  Good grief!  I expected the 12 year old boy to make that his secret word, but not Darrin!

IMG_8863

1/2—Andrew played his last soccer game of that indoor season.

IMG_8890

We got a baby sitter so we could go out for Darrin’s birthday.  Before we left we had cake.  Then Darrin and I headed to the mall to do a little bit of shopping and eat at the Cheesecake Factory.  We had a fun night together!

IMG_8898

We love this Daddy of ours!  Happy Birthday!

It is apparent that I can not work out at the gym, write down everything that eat, meal plan, cook healthy food, lose weight (7 pounds to be exact!) and blog all at the same.  But sheesh!  I’m going to try my hardest in the month of Feb.   xoxoxoxox
