Ordinary Week

Nothing exciting has really happened this week although it was a busy one: soccer (Darrin and Josh), preschool, baby shower, cub scouts, church ball, visiting teaching, EQ meetings, back to school night, etc.

Tuesday is Andrew’s b-day, so we will have lots to post next week. 

::To kick off the weekend here is our new favorite breakfast food::

Chocolate Pecan Waffles

• 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 3 eggs
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup whole milk
• 1/2 cup butter, melted
• 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
• 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 cup chopped pecans
• Fresh raspberries and whipped topping

Directions:

In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until foamy; beat in the milk, butter and vanilla. Stir in the chocolate.
    In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Stir in chocolate mixture just until combined; fold in pecans. Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions until golden brown. Serve with raspberries and whipped topping. Yield: 16 waffles.

And actually I’ve never made them with pecans.  I’ve used walnuts, because I have those on hand.  I’ve also left the nuts out all together, and they are still to die for.

So go to the store today, buy the stuff, and make them tomorrow morning.

I borrowed a dollhouse with accessories for Tuesday’s preschool lesson on families.  

My boys have surprisingly really enjoyed playing with it, but they can’t help adding transformers and dinosaurs to the house as well. 

It cracks me up!

This note should be addressed to Ms. Wendy and everyone else at Music Makers (a class for kids and moms where you can sing and dance together…a gal in our ward holds it once a week in her home).

Ms. Wendy I am sorry I yelled.  I won’t do it again.  Josh 

Kindergarten has been a change in his life that has brought out some emotions we haven’t seen lately. 

Hopefully writing an apology and not riding his bike until Friday will help him remember it’s not okay to act like that.

Andrew’s First Day of Preschool

Yay!!  Andrew had his first day of preschool today. 

We are in another co-op similar to what Josh was in for preschool.  I did teach today, and the kids were lots of fun!  It’s going to be a great year. 

I asked Andrew what his favorite part of preschool was, and he said, “All of it!”  I guess that’s good!

One more milestone…

i feel like this has become the “Josh Blog".

i promise, i do have other kids, and i will spotlight them soon.

josh has just had lots of exciting things happen lately.

today he mastered riding a bike with no training wheels.he was pretty sweaty when he was done.

Josh’s first soccer game

Yesterday was Josh’s first soccer game. His team, the green geckos, is actually a pretty good little team. Josh did a great job and scored a few times. Not touching the ball with their hands and scoring in the right goal proved to be the biggest challenges. We’re looking forward to a great season!

Josh’s first day of Kindergarten

So I feel like Josh’s school was the last one to start in the whole country…but he started!!!  He’s in Kindergarten right now as I type this.

He was so excited!!  I think his teacher Ms. R is going to be really good. 

We’ll have to fill you in about how his day went when he get home from school.

Wave goodbye to the freedom we used to know and say “hello” to a new phase of life!!  It’s going to be so fun!

 

UPDATE: 

Josh had a great first day of school!!!  He said he loved everything about it.  His most favorite parts were P.E. and riding the bus home.  This picture was taken on the second day of school(9/11) because yesterday the bus was 20 minutes late.  I expected it to be late, but not quite that late.  I started to panic and by the time the bus came, I missed getting the picture of him getting off the bus.  lol.

Darrin has some socks that are ‘ankle socks’ and some that are ‘no show socks'. 

Last week when I was finished folding all the socks, I had one ankle sock and one no show sock without a match. 

I just thought he’d lost one of each and put the extras in his drawer just in case we find their matches.

Well, Friday we found the matches.

Unfortunately he wore them like this all day.

I laughed super hard; Darrin didn’t laugh quite as hard.
