Gut instinct

Our kids have had the same cold that everyone else on the planet seems to have right now.

I thought we were getting better.

But on Monday Luke cried. and cried.

For 3 hours straight.

I noticed him pulling on his right ear, and he began to have a fever.

Of course it was 4pm, and it was too late to get him into the ped’s office.

So I gave him Motrin, and he instantly fell asleep on my lap, which he hasn’t done since he was about 4 days old.

And then I braced myself for a bad night.

Surprisingly he woke up happy from his little nap and slept through the night not waking up until the next morning at 9:30am.

I debated.

Do I take him in?  He’s been acting fine.  He slept through the night.

Maybe I just imagined his 3 hour crying fit.

And I hate it when I take the kids in for something. and I was wrong about it. and in fact they are fine.

I’m afraid the dr. will think I’m one of those mom’s that overacts about everything.

Well, I got over my pride and decided to have him checked out just in case.

Gut instinct wins.

So we go.

And low and behold, a double ear infection.

And in the right ear, a blister on the ear drum.

Which I learned is extra painful.

JUSTIFICATION!!

It feels good!

So now he’s on this stuff.

He hated it at first, and it was a huge fight to get him to take it.

But now he’s laid down his weapon and takes it willingly.

So glad you’re on your way to feeling better Luke.

And that we will see this smiling face a little more often.

I think Corbin has been on every anitbiotic known to man for his ear infections. He even has tubes! I feel your pain. I caught the last one at 4:30 pm and I even got in!

Oh boy! Poor guy and poor Kim! Double ear infection AND a blister? Wow. Good job for following your gut instinct! I bet you loved having him sleep in your arms like that though after it had been so long! How precious. Oh and Mylee LOVED having an ear infection just because of being able to take the pink medicine. She looked forward to it everyday.
