3/13--We put the movie players in the van so the kids could watch movies while we drove to the coast. Ella thought it was pretty awesome and begged every time we got in the van to “watch it”. So glad we don’t have the built in kind and have to deal with that all the time.
After stopping at Fred Meyer in Tillamook and eating dinner at Burger King, we got to the house around 7. We were the last ones there. Ella was quite confused and upset about what was going on and cried quite a bit. But luckily her friends cheered her up.
After all the kids were in bed, the adults played games. We were all so exhausted after packing and getting ready that most of us didn’t last too long before we went to bed.
Our bed was tiny and not super comfy, so Darrin and I didn’t get much sleep that night. Oh-well, who needs sleep?
3/14--We were in charge of breakfast that morning. Darrin was set on having a lumberjack breakfast complete with pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit, and homemade syrup. Everything was super yummy, and Darrin did a great job of overseeing it all.
With our bellies full, the girls headed out on a run. The sand wasn’t as hard as we had hoped so it was quite the work out. We ran out to this jetty and back (about 2 miles).
We got back and meet all the kids and husbands on the beach playing.
The weather wasn’t bad. Although Darrin still wore a heavy coat and a swimming suit at the same time. The sun came out soon enough and warmed us all up.
Ella loved the sand and digging.
and so did the boys…
Josh buried himself.
The dads played several rounds of Bocce Ball.
Around lunch time, we came back and the boys got in the hot tub to warm up.
The afternoon was filled with games, puzzles and naps (for the adults and babies).
It was pi day. 3.14. So in honor of that, we play the pie game. aka. Trivial Pursuit.
The house had tons of balconies. It even had this fourth story look out. It was super high and made me nervous to be up there with the kids, but had a great view of the ocean.
Andrew and I took Ella on a walk and Andrew taught her to throw rocks into puddles.
The Parkers made homemade pizza for dinner. YUM!! So good.`
We all walked down to the beach after dinner to watch the sunset.
Beautiful.
The tide was really low so the kids had fun drawing things in the sand.
Some great selfies.
Monkey see, monkey do.
Another dip in the hot tub.
More games and yummy food for the adults after the kids were in bed.
3/15--After we checked out of the house, we drove from Rockaway Beach to Cannon Beach. We ate at Pig n Pancake for lunch.
Then we topped off our trip with a drive over to Indian Beach. The weather was cold and windy and the tide was really high, but the kids had lots of fun climbing on all the driftwood and rocks.
We had a super fun weekend and are grateful for such fun friends to hang out with.
XOXOXOXO
