Loves her little Book of Mormon. Carries it all around the house.
Ella and I took a bunch of stuff to the DI pod. We cleaned house and are making room for big girl toys!
We did a little shopping on the way home and then picked up a dozen tamales from a family in our ward. I’d never had a tamale before, and they were selling them to earn money, so we bought some! They weren’t bad. Darrin said they were the best tamales he’d ever had.
One the way home I found my wishlist on a billboard. lol.
Darrin gave the boys haircuts and put up the Christmas lights.
We made yummy popcorn and put together goodies bags for the missionaries serving in our ward.

Josh had his piano recital. He played great. He’s been playing these songs for months, so he was very prepared. “The Greatest Show on Earth” he played two times through. Once a slower, normal speed and the second time was super speedy. It was very cute.

And today, Ella and I wore pink to remember Emilie Parker who was killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook a year ago today. When the Parkers lived in our ward, I was in cub scouts with Alissa. Every week she brought her girls over to our house and our kids played while we held den meetings. That’s where I remember having the most interaction with Emilie. I remember thinking that she was a very smart and articulate little girl and well beyond her years.
When I found out she had lost her life in such a tragic way, I was shaken to the core and heartbroken for her family. I have been impressed and strengthen this past year by her families testimony and the way they have handled themselves in the public eye. They have helped my testimony to grow.
With all the evil around us how can I find peace? That is what’s been on my mind the last several days. I love what Elder Cook said about peace:
“We earnestly hope and pray for universal peace, but it is as individuals and families that we achieve the kind of peace that is the promised reward of righteousness. This peace is a promised gift of the Savior’s mission and atoning sacrifice.
We all long for peace. Peace is not just safety or lack of war, violence, conflict, and contention. Peace comes from knowing that the Savior knows who we are and knows that we have faith in Him, love Him, and keep His commandments, even and especially amid life’s devastating trials and tragedies.”
And around this time of year the song “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” means more now than ever.
And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
- "For hate is strong,
- And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
- The Wrong shall fail,
- The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."
Satan’s influence is so strong all around us. But we know the outcome of this war.
We know who will win.
And I want to be on the winning side.
